We drove south along the coast with beautiful views of the aqua marine sea for many miles

Apparently the fishermen sometimes find Coelacanths which is a prehistoric fish and they believe brings the possibility of a cyclone the following year.

Zo was telling us that 80 percent of the species in Madagascar are endemic but they are losing them slowly. Till 2 centuries ago there was an elephant bird which was 2 times the size of a man and the shape of the shell is the shape of a local hat which he will show us if he sees it.

Tea Longo means love family in the local dialect.
Fat trees everywhere or euphorbia. Used for zebu food and causes blindness if you get the sap in your eyes.

We finally joined a tarmac road at around 11 am another one made by the chinese!

And so we arrived quickly in Tulear after passing more salt flats and mangroves.

Quick visit to the supermarket for supplies and the pharmacy for more charcoal tablets which seem to help Davids difficulty to tolerate the antimalarial pills which he started again today. We will see if it goes any better this time!

And so for a relaxing afternoon. Not sure about swimming here though! The water is very cloudy!
