We met Anne and John at their house in Scarborough and were treated to a lovely tour of the town in the sun! A nice old fashioned seaside town. Unfortunately their favourite coffee shop in the market was closed so we went to another one with a nice sea view!
And so from South beach to North beach round the back of the castle to take photos by the statue and even to see a seal for a brief moment. Then back to the house through the beautiful Peasholm park.
And on to Ravenscar where John had told us about a seal colony and then the famous walk along the beach to Robin Hoods Bay. But first a picnic on a bench by the road overlooking the bay.
A volunteer was present at the point, sadly necessary, to prevent the public from disturbing the seals. Apparently this has meant that pups are now surviving instead of being picked up for photos! After rescuing Davids cap which flew over the cliff in the wind, imagine our surprise when the only person we saw in a long time on the beach was someone we knew from many years ago: Libby. And so on to Robin Hoods Bay along the beach, about 6 km walk.
After a quick look round the National Trust coastguard house we turned back along the Cleveland way to Boggle Hole and then back to Ravenscar. We enjoyed seeing a peacock and a baby chiffchaff and enjoyed the lovely covered path with views of the sea which was now nearing low tide.
