Good bye Holland, hello France

After a few last minute photos of those lovely flower fields (and a coot’s nest nearby), we said good bye to Holland and started our 9 hour journey (540 km)to Giverny in Normandy where we had booked a gîte for two nights to break the journey. Big hold ups going round Antwerp for a broken down lorry in the tunnel were the only difficulties and we passed through the department of the Somme and saw several world war 1 cemeteries, particularly noticing one sign to the Sheffield memorial. No photos sorry.

We arrived in Freneuse passing some lovely chateaux and met our hosts who were delightful and showed us round their gîte. And so to aperetifs and dinner. My amazing chauffeur turned into an equally amazing chef and did us proud again!
