Fun, friends, the Queen’s platinum jubilee and Fontenay carnival.

What a busy time since getting back from holiday. Not even time to watch the tennis! First we were excited to find a little nest in the wisteria by our gate but unfortunately the goldfinch was frightened by too much activity and abandoned ship after realising we were there to stay!

Then David got down to writing his sermon while I did the gardening and went on the electric bike to Mervent to see Rob & Antoinette for a hair cut and swim!

Friday we enjoyed a beautiful meal with Cilla and Eric, and Rob and Antoinette in the Auberge St Catherine to celebrate selling our house at la Châtaigneraie and our friendship.

I then enjoyed going to St Pardoux on Saturday with Amanda while David added the final touches to his sermon.

A lovely day eating, drinking and listening to some great music and of course linking up with friends/ ex patients that I didn’t know would be there! Hopefully Amanda might join Keynotes, the singing group which practices in scille, 5 minutes drive from Faymoreau!

And so onto Sunday and the biennale at Fontenay that I will never forget! I has the offered of serving in the puits st Martin catering team and I have never stood for so long serving so many “Americains”! ( French bread with onions tomatoes 3 half beef burgers and lots of chips! 11.30 till 1 am when we finally finished!

But they did give us time to enjoy the floats and carnival atmosphere. Much more fun being part of the locals! The president,Deborah, was even calling me Queen Elizabeth by the end!

And then they did it all again in the evening!… So many people and so beautiful in the dark and again lovely to see it with the Rivieres who were enjoying their niece being on the dragon float.

So I left at 1.10 and the fireworks hasn’t even started! What a day!
