Amsterdam in the snow

A beautiful snowy morning with a deer in our garden!

So off we set for Amsterdam; now experts at the impossible park & ride system from the Arena. First stop to book our afternoon canal tour and then straight on for our visit to the Rijksmuseum. We picked a guided tour of the 18 most famous things, but we saw many more and could have spent all day there!

Although we had far from seen the whole of the museum (you would need a week!), we were ready for a rest and a lovely boat tour of the canals of Amsterdam.

After our canal tour we stopped for a nice cuppa in the Rijksmuseum gardens to energise us for our next step: a visit to the Van Gogh museum. This was so interesting with details of his life story and so many amazing works of art. He was even born on my birthday though had a sad end at the young age of 37. The sunflowers and  the almond blossom and olive groves were particularly beautiful. And  ‘Haymaking’ by L’hermitte.
