We packed up the caravan and set off from the campsite to visit Lascaux at 3.50pm so en route we stopped in Sarlat, a very beautiful medieval town with lots of towers and turrets and restaurants!
So we succumbed and choose a restaurant to sample the local delicacies of Sarlataises potatoes which Isaac has raved about!
So onto an amazing experience visiting Lascaux 4 which is an exact replica of the original with further models and explanations. Our guide, Nicolas was so passionate about sharing the history and spirituality of these amazing Rock paintings maybe from 22000 years BC, over 1000 drawings, 60 percent being of horses and only 3 Rock felines, 1 woolly rhinoceros, and a half man /bird.
No photos allowed in the actual cave reconstruction incase it should spoil the ambiance! But photos in the workshop afterwards where he showed us in more detail some of the tools and pictures.
And so finally to one of David’s special finds for a beautiful free spot for the caravan at lac de Ruffiac, right by the lake. We also passed a gorgeous chateau, Hautefort!
