So after a special malagassi breakfast for David including rice in soup and omelette, we set off on a quick guided visit of the town of Fianarantsoa.

We saw the old town briefly and then went up to see the view of the town. One side of the view was just of countryside

We talked to 2 students who were friendly and wanted to practice their English. Eventually they sold us a card they had made to help buy their books!

We also saw the catholic cathedral which is featured on the 100 Ar note.

We then set off on the N 7 through lots of beautiful countryside. We stopped to learn about rice in the nursery (Bright green ) and how it is planted out separately by hand after a week or 2 in the foreground

This was a traditional man’s outfit from Betsileo tribe

And the countryside views were so amazing as we climbed up to 1600 m

We passed through the main pig trading town called Ambalakisoa

Pigs ready to go to Tana, 3 hours away. We stopped to try some pok-pok fruit which are Cape gooseberries I believe. Then finally arrived at The Artisan Hotel in Ambositra which has traditionally styled Zafimaniry houses which is a local tribe in the forest which we will look at more tomorrow.
