Bank holiday Easter Monday today but we’re not sure where the people were as they weren’t where we were! Walk around the lake and activities centre in Cheveux. Enjoyed watching someone water boarding on a line and some zip wires. Couldn’t get mum and dad to build a sand castle though
And so on to the chateau de Cherveux and our personal tour which I booked last night ( Easter Sunday!) with Google chat! The guide was M Redien whose father had bought the chateau in 1910 as farm land! He was born there 82 years ago and enjoyed sharing the legends and history with us.
Inside the courtyard was another drawbridge to enter the keep up some stairs in the corner to the red door, now ruined.
And so onto the top of another tower where the was a secret room for private meetings and another for the treasury. The stairs were still original from the 1400’s and hardly worn as they weren’t used much!
And so finally on to the food store and cold house with excellent acoustics due to the design. Standing in the centre and talking was like a loudspeaker to yourself!
Two hours later home for another David speciality BBQ! Yummy as always!
